Native American Students Experience Indigenous Life With Mayans in Guatemala

Of the tens of thousands of Central American migrants seeking asylum in United States, the majority come from Guatemala.

Data from Customs and Border Protection show the number of Guatemalan families apprehended in Fiscal Year 2019 has more than doubled compared to last fiscal year, about 115,000 families so far.

Recently, Native American students from New Mexico State University traveled to Guatemala to learn about indigenous efforts to protect land and water resources. #NativeAmerican #Indigenous #Mayan
